There was something special about walking back into the Frost Bank Center and seeing more than 14,000 fans packed into the building—not for a regular-season game, not for a playoff matchup, but for a preseason scrimmage.

San Antonio showed up.

After a deep playoff run that saw the Spurs emerge as one of the NBA’s most exciting teams and finish as championship runners-up, the anticipation surrounding this group was impossible to miss. From the moment fans began filling the arena, there was a feeling that this season could be something different. The excitement wasn’t just about basketball returning. It was about the belief that this Spurs team has something special brewing.

Once the lights went down and the players hit the floor, the atmosphere immediately picked up.

The scrimmage featured the team splitting into Black and Silver squads, giving fans an early look at different lineups, rotations, and combinations. Rather than feeling like a casual preseason workout, the intensity was noticeable. Players were competing, attacking the basket, knocking down shots, and pushing the pace.

Every big play brought a reaction from the crowd.

Dunks were met with roars. Big shots got the building on its feet. Even the smaller moments—players communicating on defense, running through sets, or encouraging teammates—gave fans a glimpse into the chemistry this team is building behind the scenes.

For the fans in attendance, it was also an opportunity to see the players up close in a way that a normal game doesn’t always allow. With the action taking place right in front of them, the energy felt personal. You could hear the crowd react to every possession, and the excitement seemed to build with every rotation. What stood out most was the atmosphere.

San Antonio has always been a basketball city, but there was a different level of excitement inside the building. More than 14,000 people made the trip to watch their team prepare for another season, and they made their presence known from beginning to end.

For the players, it was another opportunity to compete and continue building chemistry. For the fans, it was a first look at what could be another memorable season.

And for everyone inside the Frost Bank Center, it felt like the beginning of something.

The Spurs may have fallen short of a championship last season, but if the energy inside the arena was any indication, San Antonio is ready to run it back.

The season hasn’t officially started yet.

But judging by the crowd, the noise, and the intensity on the court, Spurs basketball is already back.
